Loper returned to Zambia to marry the girl who stole his heart while on mission. It was an amazing extravaganza for this time and place. **We have had non-stop car problems with the too-few mission vehicles in Zambia. It took 5 months to have this Corolla's engine rebuilt. And did we mention that Zambia currently has a fuel shortage with hours-long gas lines? . . . such a fun development in our duties! **Rand is beginning to blend right in with the District President's family, don't you think? Very few families have family photos (we did take a few without us in them!) **Baptisms are the highlight of each week. There are almost always a few on Saturdays (9 last Saturday) and we try to attend all of them. With 7 Branches spread over 30 miles, it isn't always possible. I make the programs and usually play the keyboard and take the baptismal clothes . . . yes, the ones sent by our friends from home,thank you ever so much! **Rand loves to have discussions with potential missionaries. He is talking to Anthony, a recent convert and an orphan who has been with Mother's W/O Borders since its inception. He is a brilliant student and has scored so high that he will be one of the elite whom the stingy government will sponsor for education. . . what a choice for him. . .education now, or mission now. **I love the picture of Elder Patterson with the District President and counselor, striding purposefully on the path to sustain a new Branch Presidency.
HI There- We are friends of Denny and Alyce Wagstaff. Our son was just called to serve in your same mission! As you can expect we have MANY mixed ewmotions about him serving in Africa! It has been so wonderful to read your blog and become a little more informed on what it will be like for Tyler. I already am in love with hie mission president after your entry about his first mission conference and how he knelt down and promised the Elders he would be on his knees on their behalf. He sounds like a remarkable man and I am excited for Tyler to serve under him! We will be looking forward to your blog posts! Thanks for sharing!
