Christmas Caroling thru mud and ruts
I drove the Elders around caroling while Elder Patterson was in meetings with Pres. Dube. It had rained that day and the roads were mud. In our rear-wheel-drive bus, it is most critical to keep driving at a good clip to keep from sinking. My early drivers' training in my daddy's 4-wheel drive Ford Bronco paid off! The Elders opened the windows and sang carols as we drove through the throngs of ever-present pedestrians. Christmas caroling is not a known tradition here, so it is such a delightful surprise for the recipients. And the neighbors were so amazed--not only was it a sweet experience, it turned out to be pretty good PR.
