Magnificant elephants everywhere! We must have seen hundreds of them. There are 150,000 elephants in the Botswana Chobe Reserve. They are not restrained to the reserve, they wander thru the villages and across the highways. (Middle right) Top left: Mommy's are so good at shielding their babies. . can you see it? Bottom left: Missing tail. The long tail hairs are a marketable commodity. Middle oblong: Elephants eat and roll in the salt muds. Bottom middle: This elephant was "trumpeting" for the others to leave the watering hole. 2nd from the bottom on right: This little guy is going to be a handful as a teenager! He charged our jeep full speed ahead, trumpeting and stamping. . .then he ran to the side and hid behind a tree and watched us. Bottom right: notice the stripped trees. Anywhere there are elephants, there will be stripped, dead trees.
