Reptile lovers paradise

Gracia and girls are reptile lovers. This crocodile farm was right up their alley!  The week before we arrived, the farm was completely flooded by the heavy rains and the crocodiles had to be recaptured and put back in their proper pens.  We were so blessed to have missed that week! The weather was perfect for us even though it was in the middle of the rainy season. The whitish crocodile is an albino so it has no natural camoflauge. It is about 70 years old. It likely wouldn't have lived so long in the wild. The croc in the left upper corner is missing a leg. Crocs have a natural antibiotic system, so they never develop infection.  All of wounds that don't kill them will heal. Crocodiles are a mojor threat to the people of Zambia.  Almost everyone knows someone dear to them who has been killed by a crocodile. We just read in the news that 45 people have recently been killed by crocodiles. When the streams flood during the rainy season, bringing the crocodile up over the bridges and footpaths, many lives are lost due to crocodile attacks, especially children.  Fishing, a main industry in Zambia, is a risky business in all the crocidle infested waters.
